Association Rules Sparks Yet Another Confrontation.
A Las Vegas resident, Michael Firestone, of an
exclusive gated northwest Las Vegas' Spanish Springs
community is confronting his neighbors about a rule,
which states that motorized vehicles can not be driven
without a proper drivers license.
It all started when Firestone bought a motorized toy
car for his son and let him ride it on the road near
his home. Neighbors objected citing home association
rules. Firestone counters that a motorized toy car
doesn't qualify as a proper car and that his son has a
right to drive his toy on the roads beside his home as
long the kid is supervised.
The Firestones left their Summerlin house and moved
into the new neighborhood near Lone Mountain Road and
the Las Vegas Beltway in February. Their new house,
which cost more than $600,000, sits on a cul-de-sac,
which is one reason they decided to buy it.
The management firm that manages the association says
it has no authority on the matter except to enforce
the rules and Firestone has to obey or pay the fines.
